I sent out this bulletin on myspace a while ago and thought it could go here too, so new people to the site have a chance to figure out what I'm so het up about Danse Masquerade are holding a masked costume ball in Salisbury on the 20th June 2008.
Your chance to get glammed up and have a brilliant time at one of the area's only big "alternative" events of the year. Music, magic, masks and mayhem, plus the chance to win prizes for the best costume (and laugh at me trying to dance in the world's tightest corset!) When the ball's over, the party moves up to Stonehenge where you can soak up the festival atmosphere and see in the Summer Solstice in style.
Danse Masquerade are run for no profit whatsoever, their only motivation being to give everyone a great time and bring a little sparkle to the local scene.
Every penny gets ploughed back into making the event even bigger and better and you can't get much fairer than that!
Come on people, get your creative juces flowing and join in... this is our opportunity to bring the alternative scene in Salisbury a well-needed kick in the rear - where one event succeeds, many more will follow!

Hooray! That makes 5 of us all in one place. We ought to compare notes on what we're wearing so we can pick each other out on the big night. Will you be going up to the stones afterwards? Where did you get your wings? I'm rather relieved you'll be wearing some. I know it's midsummer night's dream themed but I was having a moment of paranoia and I was beginning to wonder if it was just going to be me and Purple Absinthe... She'll be the one laughing at the burlesque goth fairy who's attempting to dance in the really tight corset without fainting. Which would be me

Lol, I like that image We wont be the only ones Im sure, Ive just ordered some wings for my mums outfit, found her some that are like an actual butterfly which she liked so we got them. I ll be the one in a big skirt with big wings poking peoples eyes out, might be best to have a mask with eye protection

Wow those sound nice, so we'll have a green butterfly fairy with us then?
My wings are still in pieces all over the house. The top two are made and decorated but just on one side, the bottom two are made but not decorated at all, and none of them are attatched to anything else. I believe ibn leaving things to the last minute, see... adds to the excitement LOL!
But I have masks!! I finally ordered some! *bounce bounce*
Just got to wait for 'em to arrive and I'm sorted.
OHGOD I STILL NEED SHOES!!! AND LIPSTICK!!
*panics*

Hah, well panic must be a good thing for motivating the terminally lazy then (a.k.a. me). I've got my costume mostly sorted, masks arrived this morning, stockings are here, I've finished all four wings now, just have to assemble them (may be easier said than done but we'll see.). My lovely new boots should be arriving tomorrow, finally got a lipstick and I have all the hairfalls stuff lined up to work on tonight. DH's bondage pants are turned up, just got to take up his fishnet sleeves for him and he's ready to rock.
Oh and I have a bid in on a lurrrvely necklace on ebay that finishes in about 2 days so I'll be holding my breath to see if it'll get here in time! (Assuming I win!)
How about everyone else that's heading to the ball here? How are you all doing with your costumes? Panic stricken or smugly ready?

Hi there! I'm the "other half" of Danse Masquerade, and just wanted to give a few last minute updates!
Firstly, it seems the weather is going to be rather traditionally English tomorrow - in short, it will be pissing it down. As a result the carriages will have the tops up to keep passengers dry. However, please note carriages are not cars - i.e., there's no internal heating! It's advised you bring a coat - there's a cloak room at the guildhall itself. We may be pleasantly surprised and tomorrow evening may not be as naff as predicted, but prepare for the possibility as you wouldn't want to ruin your enjoyment by being chilled!
Secondly, the Winchester Gate will hopefully be getting DJ Nocturne in from Southampton for Saturday night entertainment. The Winnie Gate is our "local" and is rather freak-friendly. One of us will be at the Gate on Saturday to meet with visiting ballgoers and maybe even hash over ideas for the next event (and yes, we are being asked about this, and yes, we have some ideas!).
This has been a pleasure for us to put together; the Guildhall was a bit dubious about having "alternative" people inside its hallowed halls, but I think they'll be impressed we're not just a bunch of people looking to get ratted (and of course we'll all be incredibly well dressed), So enjoy the attention and revel!
See you tomorrow!

Thank you everyone for coming and giving us the hardest judging for King and Queen we've ever had. It was really nearly impossible to make a decision and we had to consult DJs, photographers, and the staff of the GuildHall to actually be able to make a choice as everyone looked smashing.
We hope you enjoyed festivitives, and we'll have some photos from Dylan to link up very soon when everyone has recovered (including ourselves).
Thanks, everyone!

Well I had a fantastic time, both on my carriage ride and in the ball itself. Even my husband enjoyed himself despite it not really being his sort of thing so it must have been a success. Looking forward to seeing pictures of everyone although I'm fairly sure I look rather worse to wear in mine - I was pretty much the last 'model' of the night and was discovering the hard way that wine and platform heels don't go together too well
