Welcome to the forum Always nice to see new faces. Keep checking back and posting on the forum. We are very busy working away on the next ball and you all wont have too much longer to wait with any luck (these things take time and were enjoying the power of tortured looks far too much at the moment to tell you all) ....and no Im not telling you Niamh, or anyone else, you will have to wait for the unveiling We will post and let you know soon as we are ready to reveal all, so you will all have front seats to be among the first to know all about it. Gothic tea parties are held every now and then, next one is the 14th, Ill be PMing everyone by the end of the week with details and all are welcome.

Hi Jenny, Welcome to the Underground... make yourself at home! I'm happy word seems to be spreading that we're here! Glad to hear there's people interested in the next ball, (some of my family are from Essex btw) we're hard at work planning it and hopefully the website (and ticket sales) will be going live in the very near future - so watch this space as it'll be announced here first! ~Acquiescence Im jenny, iv come to this site via word of mouth and a little investigation! ooo a site, well you will have to let us know what the potential unveiling date will be so we can all get our mouse button fingers ready ;D
I’m undecided at present about Sunday all depends on wtf is going on at home, as I was meant to be in Essex this weekend, but just found out my temp job is ending so im playing things safe on the old money side of things
I was wondering what you guys do to advertise this site and if I can help in anyway also if your have a facebook group !
Also when the time comes to it id be happy to go out handing out flyers for the next ball night to the right kind of folk of course
Anyway I hope to meet some of you in person as soon as I can ;D

Thank you for the offer of help, always good to have more willing bodies to find guests for the next ball, only way we will be able to keep it all going is if its a success, so fingers crossed so we can do it for many years We currently advertise via our Myspace page and word of mouth, possibly via search engines but that would be Acquiescence's speciality , and a mention on WGW site every now and then, by KizziKat or myself . The ball will be advertised by these means, other goth/alt forums, and flyers/posters in some shops I believe. Will probably be us joining loads of forums and talking about the ball in the up and coming events sections etc, tad of spamming Sometimes it just has to be done. Our Promotions Manager will be heading up all the adertising and telling us all what she whats us to do so I will let her know we have another willing victi..... I mean flyer participant Many thanks and hope to see you at one of our little events soon

Hello Jenny,
Welcome! It's good to know that word of mouth is working and that you found us!
It's a shame you missed the last ball but great that you've seen the photos and felt inspired to come to the next one. I am also a fellow Essex girl (AND PROUD OF IT!) I'm Ilford born, came to Salisbury as a three year old, but still have links with Ilford / Romford as relatives still live there. Which bit are you from?
From your introduction it sounds like you'll be at home in Underground Salisbury. The alt scene is small but active and growing!

It's nice to hear that you have good memories about Ilford, though sad that your nan is no longer around. My Nan lived in The Drive in Ilford for a while, and I lived in Brisbane Road on the edge of Valentine Park. I was just talking about Valentine Park the other day to one of Salisbury's few celebrities; Paul Di'Anno, Iron Maiden's original singer (before Bruce Dickinson), also used to live in Ilford, told me he used to take his girlfriends to Valentine Park to do rude stuff with..... So, you're from a lot further east than me by the sounds of it, nice that you get to go back once in a while. Until then you'll have to come out with us - we had a grand time last night on our first night out, went to the Coach and Horses in Winchester Street, then to The Barn behind the Coach House in Milford Street where they had an Indie night (most bizarre indie night I've ever been to but more about that on another thread!) There were seven of us, two of which I'd never met before, and we all got on well. Salisbury's alternative scene comes and goes in waves - goth was big here in the eighties (yes, I'm that old), then it died down in the nineties when indie ruled, and then in the late nineties early noughties a small goth scene built up around a few DJs (of which I was one) and the few club nights we held at The Wilton on Wilton Road and Tremor (now Churchills) on Endless Street. The Masquerade Ball in June this year was a real catalyst for the local goth scene, because people we'd seen for years around town actually all came together in one place and got talking, and Underground Salisbury was born around the same time. There, a potted history of goths in Salisbury! I shall publish a book one day...

.....what PA said. I haven't promoted the forum as much as I originally planned since I hadn't been expecting to then take over the ball and spend a ridiculous amount of time designing tickets and creating posh new websites! But once things have calmed down ball wise I'll be pushing this forum a lot more. I'm happy to see how we're growing even on the few bits we are doing, word of mouth etc so it should get even better once we go for promotions proper. As to the ball well that's mainly going to be flyers, posters, other forums, plus Simm kindly agreed to email everyone from the last ball and tell them about us so hopefully that'll bring in plenty. I was also going to look into a radio advert and local paper ads, although those are pricey but there are backdoor ways in, IYKWIM lol. And any help is always welcome especially in promotions! Sublimepoison is our Promotions Director and I'm sure she'll be glad of any willing helpers ;D ~A Thank you for the offer of help, always good to have more willing bodies to find guests for the next ball, only way we will be able to keep it all going is if its a success, so fingers crossed so we can do it for many years We currently advertise via our Myspace page and word of mouth, possibly via search engines but that would be Acquiescence's speciality , and a mention on WGW site every now and then, by KizziKat or myself . I'm on the case. Or at least I will be once I've finished the site and got the hosting sorted out.
I did a whole page today.... the one that tells everyone all about all the performers we're hiring. Which is rather important, methinks.
*does the I know something you don't know dance*
