Oh and on the soap curl/soap pearls idea.... what about a pick and mix pack? Customers can pick a set number of small soaps/slivers/curls etc from a pick and mix menu of 'flavours'?

That was kind of what I thought....I'm just having a difficult time figuring out how to package the curls as they're very delicate. But these are some great ideas, folks! I'll definitely have to give a play over the slow season in January and see what I can come up with.
The cookie cutter idea however is a definite thought which I've had, but would potentially constitute a LOT of waste, not to mention I've got no tray big enough for that in order to make it thin enough! However, with that said....hm. It's not unfeasible to do shapes and then do curls from that as there are soap embed tubes which I can pour soap in but it's very fussy and fiddly.
I like the pick and mix idea....I may stick with curls and find a way to package them in some clear plastic boxes of some kind to keep them from getting smashed, in "his" and "her" soap fragrances....I can also do the cookie cutter thing maybe just for B&Bs for novelty factor.
Wow, nice ideas! Cheers!

Can the offcuts of cookie cutting be re-melted and poured back out for another try? Or does that kind of ruin the formula. Or maybe use the offcuts for curls! Also, and this is assuming that you get a stage where the soap is setting but still malleable, can you form it into little balls? Small enough that you use one per hand wash, or about however long a curl would last. Balls would be more robust and less squashable. Also, could you package curls in a sort of shallow basket or similar, that displays them nicely, and people can just select one at a time when they want it? Cover it with something like wood wool and wrap in coloured cellophane when posting it so they don't get squished in transit? Present it like a body shop gift basket, kinda thing. I may get some clear plastic round gift package-y things for the curls, which might work. Balls are a bit fiddly and it's really hard to get a proper ball so small without a lot of work.
Pouring-remelting would work if this was M&P, but cold process is pretty much - once done, it's done. I tend to make the cuttings into soap balls and offer those as discounts so maybe not a total waste as I tend to use those for making soap balls for friends or for home use.
I've got a lot to play with in January so let's see what I come up with and what works!

Okay, update for the Yuletide Season;
Gothlings I would have LOVED to do a halloween soap for everyone but I just couldn't manage to get one in. So, I am offering now; I want to do a black/red or black/purple soap for all my goth darlings - however I want to find out what fragrances to use and maybe even some bath stuff to go with it. These would be special orders that I won't even be putting on the site, so let's hear what you darlings would like; colours, fragrances, effects (I know Fran doesn't do glitter, but I have a glitter that is a powder, not those huge chunks in Lush soap that grate on the skin - with that said I could always hand-dust a piece if someone insists on having it).
I hope to do these for a decent price for folks as well; I know we're all strapped like hell for cash at the moment so I want to do these at cost if I can, but I need to get a start asap if I'm going to do them at all.
So let's hear it, and I'll see what I can do!

Oooooooo custom yuletide gothy soap? *dies* I adore rose, geranium, patchouli, jasmine, freesia, mint, and lavender. I also love woody and spicy scents, anything like rosewood, cinammon, cedarwood, frankincense etc. I live for glitter (and I don't even care if it sticks to me, lol) My favourite colours are red and black, but I'm not that picky and am equally happy with purple, blue, green, cerise, turquoise (really I just like any intense colours). Also I love silver although I doubt you can make a soap that colour Okay, update for the Yuletide Season; Gothlings I would have LOVED to do a halloween soap for everyone but I just couldn't manage to get one in. If the prevalent vote is a black and red, Frank&Myrrh soap then I'll do that. I will hope to have it done by Xmas eve party time; but I've managed to dislocate my shoulder (srsly) so when that's recovered I'll try and get to work.

I can do my best luv, my shoulder was dislocated last week (yeah, fun) so this weekend I may have free as I'll be getting food and I think the Stoat is coming down to visit.
Would be good for a catch-up before I have to blue-assed-fly for the Christmas fair thingies.
I have some Xmess stock on my website now, but the gift boxes are being held up due to my shipment for the bath bombs has STILL not arrived (cue panic now!).

I have no idea how I did it, but it hurt a bugger for a while. The Stoat is the man-folk; we have irritating pet names already, how disgusting is that?
Well I've got most of my supplies today so hopefully I can get this soap done this week and it will be ready before x-mess.

Hope your shoulder gets better soon, that sucks! Stoat?!!! lol, love it! Gotta ask now . . . what's your nick-name then?!!! X x
