Exciting news, dark ones! One of the reasons I've been somewhat quiet recently is because I've been hard at work setting up our very own radio station! Underground Salisbury Radio can be listened to by clicking here: www.last.fm/listen/group/Underground%2520SalisburyThis link will open in a new window and will take you to the online radio player, which is set to be playable to anyone - no last.fm account required - though I'm kind of hoping that you will all get (free) accounts and join the group since the more members we have, the better the station will be. Last.fm is also brilliant at suggesting new artists who're similar to ones you already know... I've found loads of bands I never heard of before, but now love It's free and legal, so no worries about copyright, and no need to upload any of your own music collection either... just click and listen to your hearts' content. At the moment it's full of the things that PA and I love to hear, but this is where you come in... because the group radio is populated with tracks taken from the libraries of its' members... the more of us who join, the more tracks will become available to us, and the more our group radio will reflect the wonderfully varied and discerning tastes of everyone here at Underground Salisbury. ~Acquiescence

If you don't get any luck from computer savvy peeps closer to you, give me a shout and we'll see about getting the thing ferried up here somehow and will try and de-poorly it for you. ~A

It's actually dead easy when you know how, but live fm don't really make it that obvious - their FAQs etc aren't that good either so you kind of have to stumble through and work it out - then go, god is that ALL? when you finally realise how it all works.

A how to would be good yes, because you're right, there really isn't any kind of hint as to what's actually supposed to be happening there, it all sounded a bit privacy-invasive as I was reading through it tbh and I am somewhat leery of using it if it's actually accessing my computer for music or whatever is going on.

No worries, I'll get something written up shortly. To put your mind at ease, though, it doesn't access your computer unless you deliberately seek out, download and install the last.fm scrobbler. This is a programme that you can use to listen to last.fm instead of doing it via the website (like a pop up desktop radio player that tunes directly to your last.fm account and library without you needing to go to the last.fm website yourself). If you choose to enable the automatic scrobbling function (by default it's set to not do it), it also scans your ipod, itunes library or similar and makes a list of what you've listened to in the last 2 weeks. It then adds that list to your "recently listened" tracks list in last.fm so your library more accurately evolves to fit your listening patterns. You don't have to download the scrobbler to use last.fm (it's really just an extra thing for people who are really into recording everything they ever listen to whether on or offline) so if you are at all concerned about privacy then just avoid downloading it and listen to the radio via the website - in which case it's no different to listening to any other internet radio station.
