Hi, I thought I'd inform you all of what's happening up here in Swindon. The Swindon Goth Meetup takes place every first Sat, every month. Since starting the meetup we have grown from around six people to over eighty, with music from DjDarkFox who give us a good mix of both new and old so there is something for all. We have been running theme nights, and we are looking forward to a few events, Our next Meetup is BiteNight 4th October to start off our Halloween double bill vampire style, so all are welcome vamped up or not. We can be found in the back bar from from 8pm til late, so hope to see you there. For more information see our web site www.swingoth.co.uk

Thanks for this - sadly I can't make the 4th but hopefully some of the forumites will. Feel free to put future events in the calendar though, we're always looking for things to do!

Thank you. I'll try to remember to post flyers too. Since I discovered this forum some of us up here having been considering a trip down there as there's not much else happening around Swindon. Well the more the merrier! Things are still fairly small down here (there's 28 members in the group, of which 10 or so regularly meet up - so I guess we're like you were when you started out) but we've been working hard to boost the scene with various events and outings so you're more than welcome to join us! If you need any help or information then feel free to PM myself or Purple Absinthe as your first points of call

I'd like to get a few of us down there for the next Paint it Black night on 8th November. If I can, I'll be in touch to confirm location and time. Also here's the SGM flyer for November. Unfortunately we clash with Whitby.

Unfortunately we clash with Whitby. Ill post a reminder on the forum closer to the time. We changed the paint it black night on one weekend to avoid whitby (I shall be up there) Thinking of adjusting it permentantly so us and swindon dont clash so people can come down here too if they want

Always good to have new faces. At the moment it is just a little meet up of like minded people in a pub possibly going on to one of two other pubs/clubs depending on whats on, the intention is to move into putting on entertainment at some point in the future, once we have money from the masquerade ball. All takes time as Im sure youre aware

I have to drive home so you're not getting too much! Well, poo. *pouts* I had my fangs all polished up too. OMG I can't wait till we have our own equipment etc. We've been lucky enough this time in finding a DJ who is prepared to hire us his own equipment for less than the cost of hiring it from a shop so it's taken some of the pressure off us for this ball at least - especially when you think we don't have a previous event's profit to help us - but once we're far enough along to have our own stuff it's going to be awesome

SGM 6th December, 8pmDecembers Swindon Goth Meetup will have a 80's goth theme. So get your big hair out, pull on your winklepickers and step back to when goth wa truely goth! We want to see you all get in theme with the era and with music from the likes of The Cure, Joy Division and Alien Sex Fiend, right up to the heavyweights such as The Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Feilds of the Nephilim, Bauhaus and much, much more, there should be something for everyone, but feel free to bring along any CDs as long as they fit the theme. We'll be in the back room of: The Grapes Hotel. 135 Faringdon Road, Swindon. Wiltshire. SN1 5DL. Below is a link to a map of the area. The red circle is the location of the pub. Car Parks are also shown, except for the Brunel West, on Farnsby Street, which is free at night and well lit. There is some parking on the road down the side of the pub. Most of the nearby streets are residents only and Swindon traffic wardens do work nights occasionally. www.multimap.com/maps/?qs=faringdon+road%2C+swindon&countryCode=GB#map=51.55892,-1.79261|17|4&p=mm.poi.UK.premium.parking&bd=useful_information&loc=GB :51.55894:-1.7935:17|faringdon%20road,%20swindon|
